Bam BamBAM-BAM: Bam-Bam (featured in the East Nashvillian and Out & About): This guy just wants a chance to snuggle at your feet. Bam-Bam's past is very tragic, but he has been well cared for the last 6 years. His owner has become very ill and had to move to Chicago for care. Bam-Bam is about 8 years old and weighs close to 60 lbs. He is a very confident, mellow dog that is great with other dogs once he gets to know them, but doesn't relate well to cats. He gets along well with every human he meets. He is crate trained and walks well on a leash using a pinch collar. He is easy to exercise requiring 20-minute walks or interactive playtime. He could be conditioned to be a great running partner. He loves his Kong and elk antlers. He loves to play and would probably do well in a home by himself or a home with other balanced dogs.  First photo, courtesy of Images by Stacie.

BenjiBenjiBENJI: Benji is an inquisitive and playful clown was found in East Nashville dragging a chain around his neck.  He is a 2 year old, 60 lb American Bulldog mix who loves to play ball, knows how to sit, stay, down, shake, show his belly and give high-fives.  He walks well on a leash with a pinch collar. He loves his foster brother, Traveler, and could do well in a house as the only dog or with another if properly introduced.  Like most terriers, he has a prey drive, so he probably would not do well with cats and can be distracted by the occasional squirrel when on walks.  He doesn't know a stranger, but is probably too strong for small children.  Benji craves leadership, so would do well in a home with an owner taking the alpha role.  While he only needs about a 20 min walk per day, he could be conditioned to be a great running partner.   He is house and crate-trained.  Fully vetted. Up-to-date on all shots and has been neutered.  Christmas photo, courtesy of Images by Stacie.

ChiliChiliCHILI: Sweet Chili boy is ready for a new foster home.  Chili has been in his first foster home for about 3 months now and has improved a lot with indoor manners and training. The ONLY reason he needs to be moved is because current foster mom has 3 dogs of her own, small house and not able to give Chili the time and attention he needs to further training. Chili does GREAT on a leash, does well in a fenced in back yard (not a climber or digger) listens to all basic commands, wants to follow a leader and please you so badly. Chili gets a long great with all dogs (not cat tested) would do well with another young / high energy dog. If you are a runner / jogger - THIS IS YOUR MATCH ! Chili truly is a great dog, just needs more human time than I can give. Please email me @ MaryEastCAN@gmail.com, with any questions or to set up a meet and greet OR even better, ADOPT!  Christmas photo, courtesy of Images by Stacie.

SADIE: Sadie is a phenomenal little girl ! Was found on W Trinity roaming through trash at a gas station. She is being fostered in a home with 2 cats and learning how to be a good dog sister to her new feline friends. Sadie is approx. 1yr. old, house and crate trained, doing great on her daily walks, does great on car rides, loves to cuddle up on the couch and be loved on. Sadie will be spayed very soon.  photos courtesy of Images by Stacie.  adoption pending

WHISKEYWHISKEY
WHISKEY: Approx 9 months old, brindle pit mix female. Fully vetted, house trained, crate trained, very sweet natured and a quick learner but needs consistent training and exercise. Her current energy level would not be good with small children and a fenced yard would be her preference. She'd like to have a dog friend to pal around with and has not yet been exposed to cats but given her energy level we would advise against a home with cats.  Christmas photo, courtesy of Images by Stacie.

SYRA: Syra was abandoned on a front porch at the beginning of December.  She's approx. 14 weeks old. Being crate trained, house trained, socialized with other dogs, cats and kids. Syra is a ball of energy. She is extremely loyal and attached to my hip at all times. She loves to wrestle with the big dogs and if they get too rough Syra will let them know. If I'm on the couch and she can't come up she will just lay at my feet.  adoption pending

Jed
JED: This wonderful gray cat has white boots and a white patch on his chest and is a bit cross-eyed! He will let you pick him up and he is a real lover! Because he is un-neutered, he has been in several fights and has numerous scars and scabs all over his body. The vet thinks he is about 2-3 years old, and he is about 12 pounds and eats very well! While Jed is Feline Aids positive, he's Feline Leukemia negative. The Feline Aids he can certainly live with and live a healthy life for many years. Jed is a very special cat and really would make a wonderful pet to someone.

LOLA: After a few months hanging out in the park and being incredibly ellusive this girl allowed herself to trust a human and go home with one.  She is not sorry! Clearly Lola was a pet in her earlier days. She is house trained, not destructive, loves to lay down and watch tv with her peeps and is animal friendly.  She is still working on her leash skills. Would appreciate a fenced yard but not required. She is still quite skittish with new people but seems to warm up pretty fast and is thriving with the love and attention she is getting now that she's a house dog again. Lola is about 50lbs, full grown, prob. about 2 years old and in the process of being fully vetted.   Images courtesy of Mandy Whitley Photography.

BUDDY: Also known as Mellow Yellow, is one laid back happy dude.  Approx. 4-5 yrs old, he loves to snuggle and good with all people, kids and cats.

VALENTINE: Valentine was rescued from a McDonald's parking lot on 1/24/12. We think she is approx. 6-7 weeks old. Valentine has received her first round of shots and is settling in very well with her foster brother and sister. It's hard to tell the breed(s) of a pup when they are this small, but we should know more about her breed as she grows. Valentine is in potty and crate training already so she should make an exceptional new family member to a very lucky family. Scoop her up quick ! She won't be around for long.

DarlaDARLA: Found 3 weeks ago in Shelby Park, Darla was all alone with no collar and a badly injured paw. Darla has now received all of her vaccinations, her paw has since healed and she's got a clean bill of health.  She is a gorgeous dog!  She is fawn with dark black stripes, brindle-like. She looks like a tiger coyote! She is a smart dog and she will sit and wait for her food, she will lay down and she comes when you call her.  She is good on a leash and very affectionate. She is not totally potty trained, but she is getting much better and is responsive to our reward system. Being that she is only about 1 year old, she needs to be with someone who has time to walk with her daily. We love this little girl but our schedules don't allow for that need. Everyone at the hospital just loves her to pieces and she's been a good playmate with our dog at home. She'll be a great companion for someone lucky!

The Animals Below are Complimentary Postings:
The following pets are posted as a courtesy to fellow pro-active dog rescuers.  East C.A.N. is NOT handling their adoption process.  Please use the contact information included in the animals’ descriptions to get in touch with their fosters.  Thanks!

EstherESTHER: Sweet Esther and her 5 pups were discovered hiding under a house during Nashville's first cold snap. While trying to protect her pups from frigid temps and keep them fed, she suffered a horrible mammary abscess and was severely malnourished and lethargic when rescued. Now, Momma Esther healthy, happy and doing very well with her foster mom and dad enjoying retirement life, post-babies. She is a young adult, border collie mix, very mellow and dog-friendly. Esther is in the process of being spayed and fully vaccinated.   Please email if you would like to meet Esther.

GRACIE: Gracie is a boxer/American staffordshire mix, who despite her cruel early life spent chained outside in a barren yard, is a sweet, gentle, and loving companion.  Gracie is the proud graduate of a behavioral and socialization training camp; her trainer recommends that she will be an excellent companion as an only dog in an active family.  Gracie is a quick learner who is eager to please - and to cuddle!  She is spayed and up to date on all her vetting.  Approx. a year and half old.  If you would like to meet Gracie, please contact Amy

ApolloApolloAPOLLO: Apollo was found running in east nashville, he is a pit bull and about 7 months old. He is up to date on shots and will be neutered before adoption. He has the sweetest temperament, loves to cuddle. He absolutely loves other dogs and does well with cats. He is almost completely potty trained and doing very well in his crate. He would do great in an active home and would love to be in a home with another dog to play with. For an intro please contact Kalle.

SADIE: Poor Sadie was left behind by her owners when they moved and decided not to take her with them.  Through no fault of her own, she was left to fend for herself. A kind neighbor found her, took her in, and got her healthy.  Sadie has lots of experience with people, and warms up to them with plenty of love and affection.  Her past has lacked some dog socialization, but her foster family is working hard to improve her doggy social skills. She gets along with her foster brother and has learned to enjoy playing with him.  Sadie is about 2 years old, spayed, healthy and crate trained.  She would love to find a home where she won’t be left behind again.  Sadie is available for adoption for a refundable adoption fee of $100 -- all of which will be returned after her new owner provides a vet reference and allows a home visit.  To meet Sadie or learn more about her, contact Jan Morrison.

PUMPKIN: Meet Pumpkin! She's about two, about 40lbs and was surrendered by a family that kept her chained in the backyard when she wasn't out roaming the 'hood. The family said she had several litters of puppies but isn't spayed because she is HW positive. She's on slow kill method now (monthly preventative) as well as flea/tick preventative. She is up to date on the rest of her shots. She is very sweet, loves other dogs and learns very quickly. She likes to play ball and loves rope toys, but equally just likes to cuddle. She is crate trained and learning to walk on the leash. She shows no food aggression and loves treats. She is great in the car. She likes children. She never lived inside prior to late October 2011 but quickly adapted to be a lover (and hogger) of the couch and blankets....She even trained her foster mama to fluff her blankets in the dryer each night : ) Contact Lindsay if you'd like to meet Pumpkin and make her a part of your family.

BABY JANE: Baby Jane, approx. 8 months old, was rescued from being confined to a garage 24/7 with little to no human contact. More details coming soon.  In the meantime, call Angela Hammitt @ (615) 414-0850 for more information or to meet Jane.

CHARLIE: Charlie is a 10 month old  English Pointer mix.  He’s a moderate to high energy dog who loves to play.  He gets along well with other dogs and is friendly to people.  Charlie runs 2 -3 miles every day and is trained to walk on a leash.  He loves to snuggle and would do well in an active home with or without another dog.  He is up-to-date on all his shots and meds,  and is neutered.  Contact Ann Marie to arrange a meeting w/ Charlie.

BABY GIRL: This sweet adolescent border collie mix has had a rough start to life and deserves nothing but love and affection.  She was found in East Nashville after being shot in the face, side, and neck with buckshot by her own owner! Despite that ordeal, she has the sweetest personality and loves nothing better than to be loved on.  She is healing beautifully.  She is crate-trained and actually enjoys sleeping in it...even with the door left open!  She knows to go potty outside.  She is extremely sweet and loves to be held and played with.  While not specifically cat-tested, we suspect that she would get along with them like a champ.  She is very tolerant, so she won't retaliate if another dog snaps at her.  However, she can be intimidated by larger, bossier dogs.  Her personality is amazing despite all that she has been through, and she is eager to learn.  She loves being with her foster mom's young daughter, and gives lots of kisses.  Her face, neck and side are healing nicely and she bounces around the house like she knows that she is a lucky girl to have a second chance.  For more information about Baby Girl, please contact Patricia.

SIRI: Siri is an 11-week old yellow lab mix. (Her litter mate is Boomer, the husky/ shepherd mix).  She is a big snuggler and really likes being around people. She and the rest of her litter mates had been dumped in a bin in AL. She came in very dehydrated, but has been getting lots of fluids and is back to being a happy puppy with plenty of energy. $250 which includes the spay or neuter, microchip, 3 DHLLP shots, rabies, fecal and a number of dewormings and complete vet check up.  Contact Candace Simpson Giles with Critter Calvary.

BLAZE: Blaze is a handsome purebred 4 month old male pup whose owner decided that he didn’t want to raise a puppy any longer.  So…he took him to a high kill shelter and walked away. Some volunteers immediately went and scooped up this puppy before he could be exposed to all the horrible germs and viruses that exist at these shelters. This boy is a treasure  That needs a home and a family very soon.  He is very sweet and playful the foster mom tells us.  He loves  to play tug of war with the other grown dogs at her home and he does really Well with all other dogs.  No alpha on his part!    He loves his humans and wants to snuggle as much as they will allow him to.   He is a little submissive, not housebroken yet because there has not been enough time to train yet.  He does know how to use a doggie door with great success.  Contact  Candace Simpson Giles with Critter Calvary.

BOOMER: Boomer is an 11-week old husky/ shepherd mix. He's currently at about 12 pounds. He has beautiful blue eyes and the husky tail. He 'stalks' my other dogs just before he runs at them to play. So cute! He and the rest of his litter mates came from AL, where they had been dumped in a bin. His adoption fee is $250, which includes the spay or neuter, microchip, 3 DHLLP shots, rabies, fecal and a number of de-wormings and complete vet check up.  Contact Candace Simpson Giles with the Critter Calvary to meet Boomer.
