WANT TO HELP? East CAN has decided to spread the wealth. So much work to be done and so many people who want to help, it just makes sense to create some teams to focus on specific areas of need. We are starting out with just a few and hope to create even more in the near future.

Send us an e-mail at info@eastcan.org and let us know which teams you’d be interested in working with. We will then contact you back directly with more information and add you to our list of potential help when issues or opportunities pertaining to that team arise. Here are some examples of help needed:

COMMUNITY OUTREACH TEAM: Assisting with lost and found animals, partnering for conversations with neighbors to offer assistance, attend Neighborhood Association meetings to help raise awareness, create documentation tools and distribution chains to raise community awareness of local resources, fence fixing, picking-up donated supplies, or dropping off supplies, participate in projects assisting handicapped, elderly or neighbors in need, etc.

TRAINING TEAM: You will be joining a non-professional but experienced partner on assessments of new dogs, and visits to foster homes to help reinforce training like house manners, leadership, crate training, house training, leash training, food exercises, doggie introductions, etc. Production of training videos coming soon.

BOOTS-ON-THE-GROUND TEAM: Is your schedule occasionally flexible enough to do a vet transport or be called on for last minute pick-up or drop off for animal boarding? Do you have experience or want to help with stray chasing, trapping, puppy wrangling, etc? Might you be able to do a foster dog pottie break due to unforseen circumstances? We need you.

EVENTS TEAM: You will be notified of opportunities to help with upcoming events. This could include partnering with local businesses, set-up, tear-down, available shifts, advertising, doggie transport and handling, photography, etc.

DOG WALKING/RUNNING TEAM: This may be early morning, night time or mid-day and would involve some training and relationship building with foster families.

Email us at info@eastcan.org if you are interested in any of the opportunities above.  Thanks!
